Wike: I’ll Support Anyone Who Backs Tinubu in 2027

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has stated his political loyalty, announcing that he will support any individual or group who is in favour of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at the flag-off of a water project in the Jikoyi-Karu area, the minister urged residents to back political leaders who have the influence and connections to deliver federal projects and resources to the FCT.

Wike cautioned against voting for politicians who are not well-connected to the central government, arguing that such a choice would be a “wasted vote.”

He instead encouraged citizens to support those who can effectively “reach government, demand, and get results.”

As an example of this principle in action, he pointed to the work of former FCT Senator Philip Aduda and AMAC Chairman Christopher Maikalangu, who he said had successfully lobbied for infrastructure improvements.

In a show of this collaboration, Wike announced the immediate approval for the rehabilitation of a two-kilometre road in Karu Site, a request that had been made by Aduda.

He stated that his tenure is focused on delivering tangible projects rather than engaging in empty rhetoric.

Further solidifying his stance, Wike declared his full support for the current AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, regardless of his political party, because of his allegiance to Tinubu.

“I don’t know the party he belongs to, but I know that he supports Tinubu. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him,” the minister stated.

The minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to its promises, noting that the Greater Abuja Water Project is already providing potable water to several communities.

He projected that thousands of households would have access to clean, treated water by June of the following year.

The FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, echoed the sentiment, stating that the water project aligns with Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and is designed to bring tangible benefits to rural communities.

According to Richard Yohanna Dauda, the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), the project involves laying almost 194 kilometres of pipelines, which will provide safe drinking water to an estimated 334,000 residents and contribute to sustainable development in the FCT’s satellite towns.
