NEDC Delegation Inspects E-Buses in China for North-East Nigeria

A delegation from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has conducted a pre-shipment inspection of electric buses in China.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy disclosed this in a statement posted on his X page on Thursday.

The visit to the manufacturing facility of Anhui Ankai Automobile Co. Ltd. in Hefei City is a key step toward deploying eco-friendly transportation in Nigeria’s North East region.

The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s push to promote clean energy and improve mobility, a plan that received prior approval from Tinubu.

The delegation, which included the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, NEDC Managing Director Mohammed G. Alkali, and Chairman of the House Committee on NEDC, Usman Zannah, inspected the buses and their accessories to ensure they were ready for shipment to Nigeria.

The team expressed satisfaction with the buses’ quality and technology, commending the manufacturer for meeting international standards.

This procurement represents a significant move by the NEDC to introduce modern, environmentally friendly transport solutions aimed at enhancing connectivity, reducing emissions, and fostering economic growth in the region.
