The management of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has been urged to prioritise the completion of the Ogoni Power Project to boost electricity supply in the area.
A Human and Environmental Rights activist, Chief Gbaranor Keeper, who made the call, said the completion of the power project would enhance economic and social activities, and also reinforce power supply for various projects being embarked upon by HYPREP in the area.
While emphasising that the thirteen-year existence of HYPREP has brought about remarkable changes in Ogoni, especially through the Livelihood programme and the scholarship scheme, Chief Keeper said the efforts of the organisation will be appreciated once its ongoing key projects are completed.

Chief Keeper, who advised the management of HYPREP to welcome constructive criticism, said their contracts should be awarded only to companies with a proven track record of delivering, not to incompetent contractors and cronies.
