In a bid to improve access to health care services, the National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA is set to commence the digital onboarding of Nigerians to the Health Insurance Scheme.
The stakeholders forum also provided an avenue for Health Care Managers, Providers, and Enrollees to discuss issues affecting efficient health care delivery in the country.
Some of the issues that were brought to the fore included delay in generating codes for enrollees and delay in remittance of payments by Health managers to Healthcare providers, among others.
In response to the concern raised, the South South Zonal Director of NHIA, Mr. Ologbo Obaro, gave assurance that the Authority will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that impediments to achieving universal health coverage in the country are eliminated.
According to him, some of the reforms include the proposed digital onboarding and the directive for HMOs to generate codes within 24 hours.

On the challenge of substandard drugs, the Rivers State Coordinator of NHIA, Mr. Itode Christopher, clarified that no accredited NHIA facility dispenses fake drugs.

He urged Nigerians to use the generic drugs dispensed to them instead of insisting on the branded ones, which he said were more expensive.
The South South Zonal Director of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Mr. Lucky Obarein, applauded the timing of the event and called for more sensitization.
Health Care Managers, including Dr. Ibiene Precious, promised to spread the resolutions reached at the workshop to ensure efficient health service delivery to enrollees.
The workshop had in attendance representatives of various health managers and health facilities in the country.
