Maduba Reaches Private Settlement with Women Over Nightclub Assault Case

Socialite Maduba Okechi Christian, CEO of Ceemore Luxury Home has settled out of court with the three women who accused him of assault at a nightclub in the city.

‎The complainants, Juliet Obasi, Jennifer Chidiebere, and Anthonia Okoye, had accused him of attacking them at the Black Box nightclub, an incident that went viral on social media.

‎During a court hearing, the women’s lawyer, Cyrus Onu, informed Magistrate Buzuge Kobani that Maduba had apologized and offered a financial settlement, which his clients accepted. Consequently, the plaintiffs filed an affidavit to withdraw the case, leading the court to strike it out.

‎The altercation reportedly occurred during a birthday celebration, with videos showing the women sustaining injuries. Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed Maduba’s initial detention and questioning but noted the case’s resolution followed legal protocols.

‎This outcome has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising the amicable resolution while others question whether justice was fully served. The incident had earlier drawn widespread condemnation, highlighting concerns over gender-based violence and accountability for public figures 2.

‎Maduba, a controversial figure in Port Harcourt’s social scene, has yet to comment publicly on the settlement. Meanwhile, activists continue to call for stricter enforcement of laws against assault, emphasizing the need for systemic change beyond private settlements.
