Nigerian singer Davido’s past declaration that he would never support the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resurfaced following the appointment of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, as coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in the state.
The appointment, announced as part of the APC’s revised Presidential Campaign Council, has sparked reactions on social media, with some users questioning Adeleke’s decision to lead Tinubu’s campaign despite the political tensions surrounding the August 2026 Osun governorship election.
One social media user, identified as IKEAN, wrote: “Yesterday people died for Adeleke while fighting Tinubu APC to win elections. Today Ademola Adeleke, emerges APC Presidential Campaign Council Coordinator in Osun State.”
Another user, Chychy, tagged Davido in a post, writing: “@davido we your fans are highly disappointed in your uncle for accepting this appointment.”
A third user, identified as Sly, also questioned the development, writing: “@davido I pity those that loss there live because of your uncle reelection.. there souls will be crying because they died for democracy instead they died for Apc.”
Davido had openly criticised the APC during the August 15, 2026, Osun governorship election, declaring in a post on X: “I CAN NEVER SUPPORT APC IN MY LIFE !!!”
The singer had also called on President Tinubu to rein in members and supporters of the ruling party amid tensions surrounding the election.
Following news of Adeleke’s appointment, Davido reportedly shared a video of the governor dancing and singing on his Instagram Story. However, the post did not directly address Adeleke’s new campaign role.
Adeleke won re-election in August under the Accord Party, defeating the APC candidate. His appointment as Osun coordinator of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign has drawn attention because he remains a member of a different political party.
