Rivers United moved into second position with 11 points from five matches.
The Port Harcourt club have recorded three wins and two draws. They also have the best defensive record among the leading teams, having conceded only one goal.
Plateau United are third on 11 points, while defending champions Rangers International occupy fourth place with 10 points from five matches.
Doma United complete the top five with 10 points.
Kano Pillars are sixth on nine points, followed by Bendel Insurance on the same tally.
Ikorodu City occupy eighth position with eight points, while Abia Warriors are ninth, also on eight points.
Kwara United, Ranchers Bees, Sporting Lagos, Warri Wolves, Nasarawa United and Katsina United all have seven points.
Shooting Stars sit 16th with six points.
At the bottom of the table, Enyimba remain in 20th position with just one point from five matches.
The nine-time NPFL champions picked up their first point of the season after a goalless draw against Kano Pillars in Kano.
Kun Khalifat and Niger Tornadoes have five points each, while Inter Lagos are 19th with four points.
Barau FC maintained their position at the summit after a 1-1 draw against Sporting Lagos extended their unbeaten run to six matches.
