The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) has provided an operational vehicle to the Ikwerre Local Government Area to improve supervision of health facilities across the area.
The vehicle was received by the Medical Officer of Health, Ikwerre LGA, Dr Laurent-Ordu Vivean, who said the development would strengthen monitoring of the 15 health facilities under the council.
The facilities include 11 Model Primary Health Centres, three Primary Health Centres and an Infant Welfare Clinic located in Isiokpo.
Dr Vivean explained that the health facilities are spread across different parts of the local government, making transportation a major challenge for regular supervision.

She noted that some facilities are located far from the LGA headquarters in Isiokpo, with Apani Health Facility among the most distant.
According to her, the operational vehicle would make it easier for health officials to visit facilities, monitor their activities and provide the necessary support.
Dr Vivean expressed appreciation to the RSPHCMB for providing the vehicle, saying it would make supportive supervision across the local government more effective.
She said the initiative would help improve coordination and oversight of primary healthcare services in Ikwerre LGA.
