Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has reacted to Pastor Arome Osayi and his wife’s announcement that they have secured permanent residence in the United States.
The cleric and his wife shared the development in a video that surfaced on social media.
Reacting on Sunday, VeryDarkMan shared an earlier video of Pastor Arome discussing Nigeria’s national calling and the importance of prayer.
In the clip, the pastor compared China’s technological development with Nigeria’s focus on prayer. He argued that nations have different purposes and said Nigeria’s calling is revival.
VeryDarkMan, however, disagreed with the cleric’s position.
The activist argued that Pastor Arome had missed the point by comparing the two countries in that manner. According to him, China and Nigeria have different national responsibilities.
In the earlier video, Pastor Arome said, “So the next time you see someone showing what the Chinese are doing, that they are making engines, and then showing what the Nigerians are doing, we are praying, you don’t understand that nations have callings. Our calling as a nation is revival.”
VeryDarkMan’s reaction has since generated discussion online, with social media users weighing in on the pastor’s comments and the issue of obtaining permanent residence abroad.
The development has also renewed conversations about the relationship between religious teachings, national identity and Nigerians living or relocating outside the country.
