The Nigerian Navy has announced the commencement of recruitment for its 2026 Batch 39 Basic Training School, with applications scheduled to open on October 2 and close on October 31, 2026.
The Navy made the announcement in recruitment guidelines published on its official X account on Monday, directing interested Nigerians to complete their applications through the designated online recruitment portal.
According to the guidelines, the recruitment is open to Nigerian citizens by birth who possess a National Identification Number (NIN) and meet the prescribed educational, age, physical, and medical requirements.
Applicants must also be physically, medically, and psychologically fit and must have no previous criminal conviction.
The Navy stipulated a minimum height of 1.69 metres for male applicants and 1.65 metres for female applicants.
O’Level requirements
Candidates applying with O’Level qualifications must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026.
They are also required to possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.
The service said different age limits and qualification requirements would apply to candidates presenting OND and NCE certificates, as well as applicants in the trades, medical professions and sports categories.
Documents required
Applicants who complete the online registration are required to print and retain several documents for subsequent stages of the recruitment process.

These include the acknowledgement form, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation form and guarantor’s certification form.
The Navy said details concerning the recruitment examination, including the date and examination venues, would be communicated to qualified candidates at a later date.
Recruitment is free
The Nigerian Navy warned prospective applicants against paying money to individuals claiming to have the ability to secure recruitment slots.
The service emphasised that the entire recruitment exercise is free of charge.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge, and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the exercise,” the Navy stated.
Applicants were also warned against submitting multiple applications.
According to the recruitment guidelines, each candidate is permitted to submit only one valid application, while multiple applications will result in disqualification.
English language requirement
Candidates must also demonstrate an ability to communicate in basic English.
The Navy warned that applicants who fail to meet the required standard could be disqualified at any stage of the recruitment process.
