The Etche Local Government Council has pledged its support to stranded Etche indigenes living abroad, assuring them of assistance to help facilitate their safe return home.
The Executive Chairman of the council, Chief Chima Boniface Njoku, gave this assurance after responding to an SOS appeal from Miss Eberechi Adaeze Hope, an indigene of Okehi 1 in Etche LGA, who found herself stranded in Libya.
Miss Eberechi had traveled to Libya to work as domestic staff but was reportedly required to leave the country following changes in immigration policy. Unable to afford a return flight, she reached out for help.

Upon receiving her appeal, Chief Njoku stepped in and assured her that the council would support her safe return to Nigeria, stressing the importance of getting her home before her immigration status exposed her to further risk or hardship.
The Chairman also used the opportunity to advise other Etche indigenes planning to travel abroad to ensure they have proper travel and immigration documentation and comply with the laws of their host countries, noting that doing so would help them avoid unnecessary difficulties, humiliation, or other challenges while living or working overseas.
