The Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Michael John Williams, has announced a ₦500,000 cash gift for a newborn baby named after him in Bille Kingdom, Rivers State.
Williams announced this during a visit to the community for the Rainbow Coalition’s ward-to-ward sensitisation meeting in Ward 16.
A video from the event showed a community leader introducing the newborn to the chairman and explaining that the boy was born on the day of the visit.
The community leader also told Williams that the baby’s father named him after the council chairman as a mark of honour and appreciation.

Touched by the gesture, Williams announced the ₦500,000 donation to support the child.
The chairman, accompanied by other stakeholders, also used the visit to engage residents during the sensitisation programme and inspect the ongoing Sekiapu building project in the kingdom.
The development has attracted attention in the community, with the naming of the child after the council chairman serving as a symbolic gesture of recognition.
Williams’ donation is expected to provide support for the newborn as the family begins preparations for his upbringing.
