A major boost for grassroots security has arrived in Krakrama Community, Asari-Toru Local Government Area, with approval secured for the establishment of a Police Post there. Following the approval, Degema Area Commander ACP Hassan Lawal, Abalama Divisional Police Officer SP O. O. Friday, and other senior police officials visited the community on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, to inspect the proposed site and meet with local leadership.
The delegation was received at the palace of King Iwari Gibson Bala, the Amanyanabo of Krakrama VI, where chiefs, elders, women, and youths turned out in large numbers. The monarch welcomed the approval as a timely move that reflects the community’s shared push for better security, noting that a police presence would deter crime and reassure residents, fishermen, traders, and investors operating in the area’s waterways.
He also revealed that Krakrama already runs a functional local vigilante group, which he said would work alongside police through intelligence sharing, joint patrols, and surveillance. The King urged residents to cooperate fully with police, stay law-abiding, and report suspicious activity, describing security as a shared responsibility.
ACP Lawal thanked the community for its warm reception and strong turnout, calling it proof of their readiness to partner with police against crime. He said the new post would bring policing closer to residents, speed up emergency response, strengthen surveillance of the community and surrounding creeks, and help tackle piracy, theft, and cultism in riverine areas.

He expressed hope the partnership could become a model for community policing, and promised the facility would soon be commissioned with officers deployed once administrative processes are completed.
DPO SP O. O. Friday also thanked the community for pushing for police presence, stressing that collaboration between police and residents is key to crime prevention, trust-building, and dispute resolution. He assured that officers would act professionally and respect local customs.
The visit’s highlight was a physical inspection of the site, which impressed the delegation; the nearly complete structure includes a charge room, detention cells, administrative offices, and residential quarters for officers. Police described the building’s quality as evidence of the community’s seriousness about hosting a proper police formation.
Chief Pretariya Ikalaso, representing the community’s Police Affairs Committee, thanked the delegation for the visit and pledged full community support, promising to keep working with stakeholders to ensure the post takes off smoothly. The visit ended with both sides committing to sustain the partnership for Krakrama’s safety and development.
