The Coordinator of the PBAT Door to Door Movement in Rivers State, Dr Kingsley Ogu, has highlighted what he described as key interventions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the state, saying the developments could influence Rivers people’s support for the President ahead of the 2027 election.
Ogu spoke on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Port Harcourt, while briefing journalists after an expanded executive meeting of the PBAT Door to Door Movement in Rivers State.
The meeting also featured a restructuring of the movement’s leadership across the state, with Ogu emerging as State Coordinator and Bro Tammy Soberekon as Deputy Coordinator.
The restructuring affected some state, senatorial district, federal constituency, and local government coordinators, as well as women leaders in some local government areas.
According to the movement, the exercise was aimed at strengthening unity, cohesion, inclusiveness and productivity, while bringing fresh ideas and renewed energy to its activities ahead of the 2027 political season.
Ogu said the meeting also focused on strategies for taking the message of the Tinubu administration directly to residents through grassroots mobilisation.
He said the movement would adopt a door-to-door approach to engage communities and highlight what it described as the administration’s interventions in the oil and gas sector, infrastructure, education and other areas.
Ogu identified the planned resumption of oil exploration activities in Ogoni as one of the developments that could affect perceptions of the Federal Government in the state.
He said renewed oil activities in Ogoni could create employment opportunities and stimulate businesses and economic activities in the area.

“Let me tell you, when there is a re-entry in Ogoni, a lot of Rivers people will be employed. And because Rivers people will be employed at a macro level, then at the micro level, small and medium-scale businesses and the grassroots will also be empowered,” he said.
He also cited the Federal University of Environment in Ogoni, saying its establishment would attract students, workers, businesses and other economic activities to the area.
Ogu further mentioned activities around OML 58, the UBETA gas project and the second phase of the ASA gas project as developments he said reflected increased attention to the hydrocarbon sector.
He argued that increased investment and production could generate employment and business opportunities and stimulate economic activities in Rivers State.
On the removal of the petrol subsidy, Ogu acknowledged the impact of the policy but commended the Federal Government for promoting alternatives, including gas-powered transportation.
He also advocated the establishment of state police, saying stronger security structures at the state level could enhance responses to security challenges and help curb criminal activities across state boundaries.
Ogu commended the founder of the PBAT Door to Door Movement, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, whom he described as a leader committed to the development of the Niger Delta.
He also cited Tantita Security Services, saying the company had contributed to efforts to protect oil infrastructure and support crude oil production.
“Our leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, is a result-oriented leader. Whatever he puts his hands on succeeds, and so we are going to get success in this goal of re-electing President Tinubu,” Ogu said.
He said the movement would intensify grassroots engagement across Rivers State, with members expected to visit communities and explain what they regard as the benefits of the Tinubu administration’s policies and projects.
Ogu maintained that developments including the Ogoni oil re-entry, investments in the hydrocarbon sector and the Federal University of Environment could create opportunities for employment, businesses and communities.
He said the movement would continue its mobilisation across the state ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
