The Emohua Local Government Council in Rivers State has received a new supply of 500KVA transformers for installation in communities across the area.
The council procured the transformers under its #LightUpEmohua rural electrification programme, designed to improve electricity supply and expand access to power in underserved communities.
The council’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategic Communication, Bright Jossy, disclosed this while receiving the equipment at the council warehouse on Thursday.
Jossy said the exercise was part of the administration’s efforts to address electricity challenges and improve living conditions for residents across Emohua.

He was accompanied by other council officials, including the Local Government Revenue Committee Chairman and PDP Chairman in Emohua, Hon. Jim Morrison; Ward Two Councillor representing Ogbakiri II, Hon. Collins Owakah; Special Adviser on Legislative Matters and Protocol Assistant, Hon. Gift Enyi; and Kelvin Ezekwesiru Okoro.
According to Jossy, the distribution of the transformers to beneficiary communities commenced immediately after they were received.
He identified Oduoha-Ogbakiri and Akpabu as some of the first communities to benefit from the initiative.
The council said the programme is expected to improve electricity supply and contribute to economic and social activities within the benefiting communities.
