Former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has visited former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja.
Atiku disclosed the visit in a post on his social media platforms on Wednesday, describing the meeting with the widow of former President Muhammadu Buhari as “warm and deeply appreciated.”
Neither Atiku nor Aisha disclosed the reason for the visit or the details of their discussions.
The meeting comes amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reflecting on the encounter, Atiku said it reminded him of the responsibility before those seeking to lead the country, particularly the need to put the welfare and dignity of Nigerians at the centre of governance.
“Today, I was delighted to receive former First Lady, Aisha Buhari. Her visit was warm and deeply appreciated,” he said.
The former vice-president also highlighted the economic difficulties confronting many Nigerian families, pointing to the rising cost of food, transportation, education, healthcare and other basic necessities.
He said Nigeria needed an economy that would reward hard work and create greater opportunities for its citizens.
“Nigerians deserve an economy that rewards hard work, restores opportunity and allows every family to live with dignity and hope,” Atiku said.
He added that his goal was to reduce the pressure on households, restore hope and “Make Nigeria Affordable Again.”
Aisha was accompanied by one of her daughters and some associates during the visit.
