Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Rivers State Post-2025 Flood Relief Intervention Beneficiary Enumeration Team for completing the enumeration of persons affected by the 2025 flood disaster across the state.
Prof. Odu gave the commendation on Monday, September 14, 2026, while receiving the team’s report on behalf of the Rivers State Government and the Rivers State Flood Prevention and Management Committee at Government House, Port Harcourt.
The Deputy Governor described the report as comprehensive, noting that the exercise covered the 13 Local Government Areas identified by NEMA.
She expressed optimism that the findings would pave the way for further intervention by the Federal Government to support victims of the 2025 flood disaster in Rivers State.
Prof. Odu also commended the collaboration between NEMA and the Rivers State Government, stressing that sustained synergy between the Federal and State Governments would strengthen flood relief and management efforts.

She assured the team of the state government’s continued support and willingness to collaborate on subsequent flood intervention programmes.
The Deputy Governor further praised the leadership and dedication of the enumeration team, noting that their commitment enabled them to complete the assignment within the stipulated timeframe.
Presenting the report, NEMA Coordinator, Dr. Chidi Ogundu, thanked Prof. Odu for her support following the inauguration of the team.
Ogundu said the team completed the enumeration of persons affected by the 2025 floods and deemed it necessary to formally present the report to the state government for documentation and further action.
He explained that the exercise was designed to identify and document genuine beneficiaries affected by the disaster as part of NEMA’s post-flood relief intervention programme.
