A youth activist, Justice Ori, has called on the Rivers State Government to urgently intervene in the deteriorating condition of the Ibaa Government Girls’ Secondary School in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
Ori appealed after visiting the abandoned school, where he observed that students were no longer receiving lessons on the premises due to its deplorable condition.
According to him, students in the junior section of the school have been relocated to State School 1, Ibaa, while those in the senior section have been moved to Uvuahuo Comprehensive High School to continue their education.
Speaking after his visit, Ori expressed concern over the state of the school and questioned why the facility had not been renovated despite the students being displaced to other schools.

He said the situation was heartbreaking, noting that several schools across Rivers State were also facing similar challenges.
Ori further drew the attention of the state government to Government Secondary School, Ozuzu, in Etche Local Government Area, which he said was also in a deplorable condition.
He also raised concerns about the security of educational facilities in Egbeda, alleging that hoodlums had vandalised and destroyed equipment and other materials in primary schools in the area.
The youth activist urged the state government to prioritise the rehabilitation of dilapidated schools across Rivers State, stressing that students should be provided with safe and conducive learning environments.
He appealed for urgent action to prevent further deterioration of the affected facilities and ensure that students are able to learn in properly equipped schools within their communities.
