The people of Iwo-Ama Nkoro have commended the Chairman of Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. James A James ( JAJ), for restoration of electricity to the ancient kingdom.
Speaking with reporters on the development, some of the community leaders like Alabo Wilson Osokor, Hon. Harry Derrick, and some youths from the area expressed their gratefulness to the Chairman for repairing the community’s broken-down power generator.
They said the restoration of electricity in the community will not only help the economy of the people, but also help to enhance the young people in being meaningfully engaged in economic activities.
They, however, called on Hon. James to always ensure that the council provides enough diesel to the community to power the generator intermittently.
Iwo-Ama Nkoro, one of the satellite communities of Nkoro Kingdom, in Opobo/ Nkoro Local Government Area, has been without any form of electricity for over nine years since the community’s generator broke down.
The Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. James, has now restored light to the community by repairing the faulty power generator set that had been abandoned by his predecessors.

According to a release by the special adviser to the Chairman on Media, Bestman Silas Dokubo, the restoration of electricity in Iwo-Ama Nkoro is what many successive administrations had given up on.
The statement also said that James chose to revive electricity to Iwo-Ama Nkoro not merely as a project, but as a demonstration of his love, compassion, and commitment to the people of Iwo-Ama Nkoro.
Beyond restoring the power supply, the Chairman has also facilitated new electrical connections from the poles to individual homes and provided the community with a modern electrical ladder to assist with emergency electrical repairs and maintenance.
The statement further said James has promised to connect Iwo-Ama Nkoro to the National Grid and bring the community closer to enjoying a more sustainable and dependable electricity supply, which most of the communities in the area have been enjoying.
