Oliver Glasner endured a disappointing start to his Nottingham Forest reign as his side suffered a late 1-0 defeat to Leeds United. The result extended an unwanted record, with the last seven managers to take charge at the City Ground all losing their opening Premier League match.
Both teams deployed a back three, leading to a largely cagey first half. Igor Jesus produced the first notable attempt, but new Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford stayed alert to palm his header away.
Ola Aina then survived a red-card review after making a scissoring tackle, potentially becoming the first beneficiary of the new directive aimed at reducing VAR intervention this season.
The game gradually opened up, with Harry Wilson appearing to have the perfect start for his new club, only for the offside flag to rule out the effort. Forest came close to breaking the deadlock shortly before half-time when Jair Cunha headed against the post from a corner, with the rebound bouncing just beyond Jesus.

Jesus remained involved after the restart, heading an inviting Aina cross narrowly wide. Chris Wood was then introduced for Dan Ndoye, but the striker wasted a good opportunity after Murillo produced a determined run from centre-back.
Leeds responded with a chance of their own, as Tarik Muharemović saw his header brilliantly saved by Matz Sels.
The match appeared destined for a share of the points until Anton Stach caught Sels out at his near post with a clever free-kick to snatch all three points for Leeds late on.
Glasner will be bitterly disappointed with the result, particularly after winning his opening match at four of his previous five clubs. However, he will have an immediate opportunity to respond, with Forest and Leeds set to meet again in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
