The Rivers State Government has dismissed reports of a disagreement between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly over the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzeshi, the government said His Excellency was not at loggerheads with the lawmakers but was working closely with them in the interest of the people of the state.
“The attention of the Rivers State Government has been drawn to a news item published in some national dailies and online platforms insinuating that there is a disagreement between the Executive and Legislative arms of the Rivers State Government over the 2026 Appropriation Bill,” the statement read.
It added that the 2026 budget proposal had already been presented to the House of Assembly and was undergoing the normal legislative process.
The government expressed confidence that the bill would be passed once the process was completed.
The statement noted that Rivers State had passed through difficult periods in the past and was not prepared to be drawn into another round of controversies.
It therefore called on those promoting negative narratives to desist, stressing the need for peace and harmony to sustain the steady development of the state.
