The Federal Government has introduced new Human Resource (HR) modules for the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), expanding the platform beyond salary management to cover wider personnel administration across the Federal Civil Service.
The upgraded system was unveiled in Abuja by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, as part of efforts to improve the management of government employees through digital tools.
The new platform will allow government agencies to manage key staff processes, including employee onboarding, biometric registration, promotions, postings, leave administration, retirement planning and personnel records.
Unlike the previous IPPIS system, which was mainly introduced to manage payroll and tackle ghost workers, the new HR modules provide a broader framework for managing civil servants’ information and services.
A major feature of the platform is the Employee Self-Service module, which enables workers to access their records, submit requests and complete routine HR processes online without visiting government offices.
The harmonised IPPIS platform currently covers 508 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and is expected to improve the accuracy of personnel records, reduce duplication and support better workforce planning.
The system was developed by Soft Alliance in partnership with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
The Federal Government said the platform would strengthen data management, improve decision-making and reduce reliance on external software solutions through local development and hosting.
The initiative is part of broader public service reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and service delivery across the Federal Civil Service.
