West Africa Container Terminal (WACT)-APM Terminals Nigeria has awarded scholarships to 52 new beneficiaries, including 47 students from its host communities and five children of employees, bringing the total number of recipients under the WACT Scholarship Scheme to 193.
The scholarship award ceremony was attended by the WACT management team, the Country CEO of APM Terminals Nigeria, community leaders, parents, guardians, employees and the student beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, WACT Managing Director, Courage Obadagbonyi, described the initiative as an investment in the future of the students and their communities.

He said the scholarship programme is designed to empower beneficiaries to become future leaders and contribute meaningfully to their families, Rivers State and the nation.
Obadagbonyi congratulated the students on their academic excellence and commended their parents and guardians for supporting their educational pursuits.
He noted that the ceremony marked the fifth edition of the scholarship programme since the company’s community engagement transformation initiatives were introduced in 2021.
Also speaking, Country CEO of APM Terminals Nigeria, Frederik Klinke, described the scholarship scheme as one of the company’s most impactful social sustainability programmes, adding that investing in education reflects the organisation’s commitment to facilitating trade while contributing to Nigeria’s long-term development.
