NCDMB Commends Brentex Over $50m Steel Pipe Facility at Onne

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has lauded Brentex Petroleum Services Limited for the development of its Steel Pipe Induction Bending and Coating Facility at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), Onne Port, Rivers State, describing the project as a major milestone in Nigeria’s industrial and oil and gas sectors.

The facility, valued at $50 million, is being developed to provide integrated steel pipe induction bending, heat treatment, testing, and coating services for the country’s oil and gas industry.

Having already attracted more than $26 million in investment, it is expected to become Africa’s first fully integrated 2-inch to 48-inch steel pipe induction bending and coating plant upon completion.

Speaking during an inspection of the project on Thursday, NCDMB Executive Secretary, Omatsola Ogbe, congratulated Brentex Petroleum Services Limited on the progress recorded and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting initiatives that deepen local capacity, promote industrialization, and expand Nigerian Content in the oil and gas industry.

Represented by the Director of the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate, Esueme Dan Kikile, Ogbe said the facility represents a practical response to the country’s drive for in-country capacity in specialized pipeline engineering services.

He noted that the project would help retain value within the economy, create employment opportunities, and strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leading energy services hub in Africa.

He commended Brentex for its resilience and long-term commitment to indigenous capacity development, noting that the Board had worked closely with the company for over a decade under its equipment component manufacturing initiative aimed at increasing local value addition.

Ogbe also assured the company of the Board’s continued support and encouraged industry operators to patronize the facility upon completion, describing it as a strategic national asset with the potential to become a benchmark for specialized pipeline engineering services across the continent.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Brentex Petroleum Services Limited, Chidi Nzerem, thanked the NCDMB delegation for the visit, describing it as a strong endorsement of the project.

He acknowledged the Board’s support over the past 10 years, saying its interventions had played a significant role in advancing the facility, which was conceived to support the objectives of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act, 2010.
