The Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr. Okechukwu Akara Nwaogu, has presented 13 official vehicles to key council officials as part of efforts to improve grassroots administration and enhance service delivery.
The beneficiaries of the vehicles include the Vice Chairman, Leader of the Legislative Assembly, councillors, Secretary to the Local Government and Chief of Staff, among other principal officers of the council.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony at the Oyigbo Council Secretariat, Nwaogu said the gesture was aimed at providing officials with the necessary tools to effectively carry out their responsibilities and remain connected with residents across the communities.
He urged the beneficiaries to see the vehicles as working instruments rather than symbols of office, stressing that they should use them for project monitoring, community engagement and effective implementation of government programmes.
The council chairman said his administration remained committed to delivering impactful projects, expanding empowerment initiatives, improving security and creating more opportunities for women, youths and vulnerable groups in Oyigbo.
He also expressed appreciation to residents for their support, adding that his vision was to build a peaceful, united and progressive local government area through inclusive leadership and sustainable development.
The Rivers State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Amb. Desmond Akawor, who spoke at the event, commended Nwaogu’s efforts in repositioning Oyigbo LGA and improving the council’s facilities.
Akawor encouraged stakeholders to continue supporting the administration, noting that the vehicles would help council officials carry out their duties more efficiently and strengthen engagement with the people at the grassroots.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Vice Chairman of Oyigbo LGA, Hon. Juliana Ngozi Okorie, thanked the chairman for the initiative and assured that the vehicles would be used responsibly to support effective service delivery.
