Tragedy struck Omoku community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State on Tuesday after the Omoku Zone Commander of the local security outfit, OSPAC, Comrade Ozoemela Stephen Wokocha, was shot dead by suspected gunmen alongside three women.
The attack, which occurred under circumstances that remain unclear, has thrown the community into mourning and renewed concerns over the deteriorating security situation in parts of Rivers State.
According to information available to TPCN, the attackers, whose identities are yet to be established, ambushed the victims and opened fire, killing the OSPAC commander and the three women at the scene before fleeing.
The killing of Wokocha, described by residents as a prominent figure in community security efforts, has sent shockwaves across Omoku and neighbouring communities.

Members of the OSPAC security outfit described the incident as a devastating loss, noting that the slain commander had played a key role in supporting local efforts to combat crime and maintain peace in the area.
The deaths of the three women have also deepened grief among residents, although their identities had not been officially released as of the time of filing this report.
Following the attack, members of the OSPAC security family issued an urgent appeal to the Rivers State Government, the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Council and relevant security agencies to intervene decisively.
They called for a thorough investigation into the killings, the arrest and prosecution of those responsible, and increased security deployment to prevent further attacks on residents and local security personnel.
The incident adds to a series of violent attacks that have heightened fears among residents of Omoku and surrounding communities, where concerns over armed criminal activities have persisted.
As of press time, the Rivers State Police Command had not issued an official statement confirming the incident or providing details on the circumstances surrounding the attack.
