The current crop of Southeast governors appears determined to make a lasting impact. There is a noticeable sense of urgency in their efforts to deliver tangible results and improve the lives of their people.
Developments such as these are truly encouraging – Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo announced that the Abia State airport runway is at an advanced stage, and Enugu State is set to launch direct China cargo flights.
I cannot recall another period when we had a set of Southeast Governors almost ‘competing’ among themselves to be the best in the region, and first among equals.

From Imo to Anambra, Ebonyi, Abia, and Enugu, Ndi Southeast are beginning to witness purposeful leadership, collective action, and meaningful change. While each state is advancing at its own pace and addressing its unique challenges and economic realities, there is undeniable momentum across the region.
We may not have reached our destination yet, but significant progress is being made, and that progress provides a solid foundation for even greater achievements.
Regional development will create jobs, stimulate economic growth, enhance security, and promote shared prosperity. I would particularly like to see even greater cooperation among the governors of the Southeast, as stronger collaboration will deepen regional integration and accelerate development across the zone.
