He hired a gang to kidnap his own siblings for millions. There was just one problem: the criminals liked his brother way more than they liked him.
The case of Adawari Samuel Ugulo, reported to be one of the children of a prominent, well-known pastor based in Port Harcourt, hatched a plan to extort money from his own family. Desperate for a major payday, he actively sought out and hired a local gang of criminal kidnappers.
His explicit objective was to have them abduct his own biological brother and sister, intending to force their family to pay a massive ransom for their release. However, the plan collapsed the moment he pitched it to the mercenaries.
As it turned out, the hired gang members already knew Adawari’s brother. In a surprising twist of criminal honor, the kidnappers refused to target him because they knew him to be a genuinely kind and good person who had likely shown goodwill in the community.

Realizing that Adawari was malicious enough to betray his own blood, the gang decided he was the better target. They immediately turned the tables, turning on Adawari and kidnapping him instead effectively weaponizing his own criminal setup against him.
Once they had Adawari in their custody, the kidnappers didn’t just hold him for money; they ensured his family would know exactly who they were dealing with. They placed him in front of a camera and forced him to film a full confession, detailing his original plot to have his siblings abducted.
The gang then forwarded this video directly to his brother and sister. Along with the video evidence of his betrayal, the kidnappers attached a ransom demand of 10 million Naira for Adawari’s safe release.
Instead of a smooth criminal payout, Adawari ended up trapped in a cage of his own making exposed to his family as a mastermind of their intended harm, while relying on their mercy to secure his freedom.
