ESET Nigeria has successfully completed a cybersecurity awareness training program for employees of the Lagos State Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), thereby reinforcing the state’s dedication to cultivating a resilient and cyber-aware public sector workforce.
Conducted at the Staff Clinic Hall in Alausa, Ikeja, the training, titled “Cybersecurity in 2026: Defending Against Modern Threats in a Digital Workplace,” gathered government officials from various MDAs to acquire practical knowledge regarding emerging cyber threats and contemporary security best practices.
The program tackled significant cybersecurity challenges anticipated to influence the threat landscape in 2026, such as attacks driven by artificial intelligence, fraud enabled by deepfakes, sophisticated phishing schemes, ransomware, identity theft, risks associated with cloud security, and compromises in the supply chain.
Participants took part in interactive lectures, scenario-based discussions, case studies, and hands-on sessions aimed at enhancing their capacity to identify, prevent, and respond to cyber threats within the workplace.
During one of the sessions, Mr. Olabanji Soledayo, Strategic Partnership Manager and Cybersecurity Awareness Evangelist at ESET Nigeria, underscored the growing significance of human awareness in countering advanced cyberattacks and protecting digital work environments.
He also praised the Lagos State Government for its longstanding trust in ESET as a cybersecurity partner.
The event included technical sessions focused on email security, endpoint protection, ransomware defense, threat detection, and modern cybersecurity practices pertinent to government institutions.
While addressing attendees, Mr. Kadri Shamusideen, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Science and Technology, highlighted the critical nature of cybersecurity awareness as government services continue to evolve through digital transformation.
ESET Nigeria acknowledged that the initiative is a component of its wider dedication to assisting organizations throughout Nigeria in enhancing their cyber resilience via awareness, education, and sophisticated cybersecurity solutions.
As cybercriminals progressively utilize artificial intelligence, social engineering, and identity-based attacks, cybersecurity professionals persist in highlighting that employee awareness is one of the most potent defenses against contemporary cyber threats.
