The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has stressed the need for stronger collaboration and strategic partnerships to accelerate digital transformation across Africa.
The agency made the call on Tuesday at the launch of the Digital Transformation Room during the Omniverse Africa 3.0 Summit held in Lagos.
Speaking at the event, NITDA’s Director of Stakeholders Management and Partnerships, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, said digital transformation has become a major driver of economic growth, institutional efficiency, and sustainable development across the continent.
Onumo, who represented the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, said Nigeria has the capacity to play a leading role in shaping Africa’s digital future.
He pointed to the country’s growing digital infrastructure, vibrant innovation ecosystem, and large pool of technology talent as key strengths positioning it for leadership in the sector.
However, he said achieving meaningful progress would require stronger cooperation among government institutions, private sector players, academic institutions, startups, and development partners.
According to him, collaboration remains critical to addressing challenges and unlocking opportunities within Africa’s digital economy.
He urged stakeholders to take advantage of the newly launched Digital Transformation Room, describing it as a platform for developing practical technology-driven solutions to challenges facing the continent.
The Omniverse Africa 3.0 Summit brought together policymakers, technology experts, innovators, and business leaders to discuss strategies for advancing digital development across Africa.
