President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International following the membership’s historic Nigeria Premier Football League identity victory, commending the Enugu side for winning the reported 9th league crown.
In a statement launched on Monday through his Special Adviser on Information Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President recommended the players, academic team, management and supporters for an impressive campaign.
Rangers sealed their 2025/26 NPFL selection on the final day of the season, completing the top of the desk with sixty-eight factors from 38 suits, one point ahead of Rivers United
Tinubu reflected on the rich football history of the membership, recalling the golden years of Rangers in the 1970s and 1980s when they dominated Nigerian football and made a strong impact at the continental level
The President highlighted the club’s memorable run to the 1975 Africa Cup of Champions final and the 1977 Africa Cup of Nations Winners Cup victory, describing Rangers as one of the most respected football institutions in every Nigeria
He also commended Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, linking the recent achievement of the club to sustainable investment in sports and child development
“This victory is a clear result of his administration’s investment within the state and in juvenile sports,” Tinubu said.
“As one of the oldest golf equipment in Nigeria, Rangers have produced some of the nation’s finest footballers who have gone on to make the usa proud globally.”
The President also congratulated Rivers United for pushing the title race to the final day and displaying strong sportsmanship throughout the season.
Both Rangers and Rivers United will constitute Nigeria in the following season’s CAF Champions League.
