‎FG Implementing AI-Driven Public Service Reforms, Sovereign Digital Infrastructure‎‎

The federal government has said it is committed to improving how public services are delivered. To achieve this, the government plans to use digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence to speed up the digitalization of public services.

‎The Federal Civil Service is working on reforms that focus on innovation, resilience and technology. These reforms aim to improve governance and service delivery.

‎The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Didi Esther Walson-Jack made these statements at the International Civil Service Conference (ICSC) 2026 in Abuja.

‎The conference brought together heads of service from states and countries— Senior government officials, reform experts and technology stakeholders also attended, and they discussed the future of governance and digital transformation in Africa using Nigeria’s service as an example.

‎Walson-Jack said all 38 federal ministries and extra-ministerial departments have digitalized their operations, they met the deadline to go paperless by December 2025.

‎The Federal Government’s Service-Wise GPT platform is an AI tool, that
‎ helps civil servants understand service rules and institutional knowledge, at the moment it has had over 50,000 conversations.

‎“These are not just numbers. They show that technology can solve problems and people will use it ” she said.

‎Walson-Jack emphasized that artificial intelligence should support capacity. It should improve public service delivery not replace judgment.

‎She praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubus leadership, and she said his administration has improved accountability, performance and results in the sector.

‎The Head of Service also thanked Galaxy Backbone and their technical partner, and of they supported the Federal Government’s digitalization agenda through the Cloud programme.

‎The Group Chief Executive Officer of Crown Interactive, Wumi Oghoetuoma also spoke. He presented the company’s vision for Africa’s public infrastructure.

‎He described the 1Government Cloud framework as a digital workspace, it is designed to help civil servants transform the sector. “The civil servant is also a citizen. the civil servants are not just the people behind the desk; they’re people the desk was built to serve ” he said.
