Norrenberger to Host 2026 International Golf Classic in Port Harcourt

The Norrenberger Financial Group is set to host the 2026 Norrenberger International Golf Classic in collaboration with the Python International Golf Club, Port Harcourt.

This was announced at a press conference in Port Harcourt on Friday, May 21, 2026, where officials from both organisations unveiled details of the forthcoming high-profile golf tournament.

Mr. Bako Emmanuel, Competition Secretary of the Python Golf Club, said hosting the event in the Garden City would significantly boost economic activities in Rivers State.

“We are expecting about 140 to 144 golfers to tee off tomorrow. Apart from the players, there will be caddies who will carry the golf bags. This presents a great opportunity for their development,” Emmanuel said.

He added that talented young people interested in golf would be identified during the tournament, with some selected for training and scholarships as part of human capital development initiatives.

He noted that most consumables to be used during the competition would be sourced locally.

In his remarks, Mr. Loveday Deemua, a representative of the Python International Golf Club, described golf as more than a physical sport, stressing its importance in fostering interaction among participants.

“The golf classic will provide players and members of the corporate world an avenue to bond and share ideas,” Deemua said.

He disclosed that the club, established in 1987, will mark its 40th anniversary next year, adding that the tournament would bring together key decision-makers from various industries across Nigeria’s public and private sectors.

“Golf impacts positively on the operations and success of companies. It gives back to the community and benefits the land,” he added.

Mr. Ekene Okechukwu, South South Regional Head of Norrenberger Asset Management, said the partnership aligns with the growing awareness about holistic wellness encompassing physical, mental, and financial well-being.

Okechukwu described the tournament, scheduled to tee off on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., as more than a sporting event but a statement of Norrenberger’s commitment to the overall well-being of Nigerians.

“This partnership is not just about sponsoring a tournament. It is about building a lifestyle movement.

Golfers understand the value of patience, strategy, and long-term vision the same principles that guide smart financial planning,” he said.

He disclosed that 12 trophies have been lined up for outstanding players in the Men, Ladies, Veterans, and Guest categories, alongside cash prizes and compensatory tokens for promising golfers.

Mr. Amani Momodu, Associate Director, Strategy and Sustainability at Norrenberger, said the event aims to build healthier communities.

He assured that the company would scale up participation in subsequent editions to make the tournament bigger and more prestigious.

“We are going to amplify the event to make it bigger than what it is today, so that in the future we can attract top players like Tiger Woods,” Momodu said.

He added: “We are here for good. We will remain with you for years ahead.”
