2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Super Eagles to Discover Opponents, Tuesday

‎As the African Cup of Nations is at the corner, speculating report has claimed that on Tuesday 19th of May, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will discover who they will play against tomorrow for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. This is when the Confederation of African Football does the official draw in Cairo, Egypt.

‎According to the report, it is stated that the draw is the start of the qualification series for the tournament. Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are working together to host this tournament. They are using the theme “PAMOJA” which is a Swahili word that means “together”.

‎The Confederation of African Football says 48 countries will take part in the qualifiers. These countries will be divided into 12 groups with four teams in each group. The top two teams from each group will get to go to the tournament.. Since Kenya Tanzania and Uganda are already hosting only one more team from each of their groups will get to go.

‎The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 17 2027. This will be the time three countries are working together to host the Africa Cup of Nations. It will also be the time the tournament is held in East Africa since Ethiopia hosted it in 1976. The qualification matches will be played over three FIFA windows between September 2026 and March 2027.

‎Big football teams like Nigeria, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire and South Africa will really want to get to the tournament. The Confederation of African Football also says that other countries like Comoros and Gambia are getting better at football.

‎The tournament is not about football. It will also help tourism, infrastructure development and regional cooperation, in East Africa. It will show the world the culture and passion of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The Africa Cup of Nations is a deal and the Super Eagles really want to be a part of it. The Super Eagles have to play to qualify for the tournament.
