WhatsApp has announced the launch of a new feature called Incognito Chat with Meta AI, aimed at enabling users to have private and temporary conversations with its artificial intelligence assistant.
The company disclosed this in a statement shared on its X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
According to WhatsApp, the feature is built on its Private Processing technology, which allows messages to be processed in a secure environment that is inaccessible even to Meta.
The company stated that users who begin an Incognito Chat with Meta AI would create a private conversation visible only to them.
WhatsApp added that chats conducted through the feature are not saved and that messages disappear by default after the conversation ends.
The platform described the feature as a new privacy-focused approach designed to support sensitive discussions with AI while ensuring that conversations remain confidential.
Meta further stated that the introduction of Incognito Chat establishes “a new industry standard for privacy” in artificial intelligence interactions.
According to the company, the feature forms part of its broader effort to expand AI services across its messaging platforms while prioritising user privacy and security.
