Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo was confirmed dead by his family as they also revealed the cause of death to the public. He reportedly lost his life to a short battle of advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
On the late actor’s Instagram account, family members reported that Ekubo died due to complications related to his cancer at Evercare Hospital. The family statement said, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke.”
Concern for the actor’s health was elicited by his extended absence from the public and social media.
The family said the actor quietly endured his illness with hope and described him as one who, during the illness, maintained the resolve of a warrior.
“Throughout this difficult journey, he bore his pain with remarkable strength, unwavering faith and enduring hope, believing that one day his testimony would be shared with the world,” the family said.
For the last decade, Ekubo has been one of the most famous actors across Nollywood.
The family requested the public to keep Ekubo in prayer and requested that mourners, for the time being, respect their wish for privacy during the mourning period.
The family said they would share additional details and funeral arrangements in the coming days.
“We sincerely thank everyone for the love, support, prayers, and understanding extended to the family throughout this period,” the statement concluded.
