The National Identity Management Commission (National Identity Management Commission) has introduced new digital support channels, including WhatsApp and live chat services, to improve access to assistance for Nigerians and legal residents seeking help with their National Identification Number (NIN).
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, the Commission said the initiative is part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving service delivery through digital innovation.
NIMC explained that the newly introduced platforms are designed to make it easier for users to resolve NIN-related issues without the need to visit physical offices.
According to the Commission, the support system will be accessible through a live chat feature on its official website as well as an official WhatsApp support line.
It added that the channels are expected to provide faster responses, real-time guidance, and improved interaction between the Commission and members of the public.
The agency noted that the development is part of its broader digital transformation agenda under the leadership of its Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Abisoye Coker-Odusote.
NIMC said the initiative reflects its commitment to citizen-focused service delivery and innovation in identity management systems across the country.
It further stated that the platforms would help reduce congestion at physical offices by allowing users to access support remotely from any location.
According to the Commission, the move also aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises technology-driven public service reforms to enhance efficiency and accessibility.
NIMC added that it will continue to roll out innovations aimed at strengthening trust in the national identity system and improving user experience for Nigerians and legal residents.
