Fubara Charges Corps Members to Uphold Integrity Ahead of 2027 Elections

State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to uphold integrity, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility as they prepare for possible election-related duties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fubara made the call on Tuesday at Nonwa-Gbam during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream II orientation course for corps members deployed to Rivers State.

He was represented at the event by the Director of Administration in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Rachel Ayasuk-Dandy.

The governor said corps members must remain neutral, credible and guided by conscience in the discharge of their responsibilities, especially as the country moves closer to the 2027 elections.

He stressed that their role in the electoral process would demand uprightness and professionalism, noting that public confidence in elections depends largely on the conduct of those involved.

“As corps members, your services will be required as the 2027 election draws closer. It is your duty to be upright, fearless and of good conscience,” he said.

Fubara added that Nigerians expect corps members to demonstrate discipline and integrity in every assignment they are given, particularly during elections where neutrality is essential.

He encouraged them to integrate into their host communities by engaging positively with residents and contributing meaningfully during their service year.

According to him, such engagement would not only enhance their relevance but also help them stand out as responsible young citizens in their various places of deployment.

The governor also assured the corps members of the Rivers State Government’s commitment to their welfare, safety and security throughout their service year in the state.

Earlier, the NYSC Coordinator in Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe, commended the corps members for their discipline and active participation during the three-week orientation programme.
