Chidi Lloyd, Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area in Rivers State, has presented the council’s 2026 Appropriation Bill.
According to a statement released on the state government’s website on Tuesday, he laid the proposal before the 10th Legislative Assembly at the council headquarters in Rumuakunde, stressing that the budget aims to build on past gains and sustain ongoing development efforts.
Lloyd described the document as a blueprint for continuity and growth, while commending the Assembly for its consistent support towards the council’s development.
He noted that the legislature’s cooperation has played a key role in advancing policies targeted at improving residents’ welfare.
He reiterated his administration’s goal of repositioning Emohua as a leading local government, both within Rivers State and across the country, adding that efforts remain focused on restoring pride and dignity among the people.
The chairman also pledged to promote peace, drive economic progress and implement initiatives that would ease daily challenges, while ensuring that the council’s achievements are sustainable.
He thanked the legislative arm for its backing, expressing confidence that their contributions would be recognised by future generations.
He further attributed the administration’s progress to divine support.Lloyd named the 2026 budget “Consolidation and Continuity”, noting that it reflects a determination to maintain momentum while tackling emerging issues.
He added that the council would intensify efforts to expand development and improve living standards.
Reviewing the 2025 fiscal year, he highlighted strides made in key sectors including healthcare, security, education, electricity, road construction and infrastructure, describing them as the foundation for the new budget.
The proposed budget projects total revenue of ₦14.66 billion, with ₦7.44 billion set aside for recurrent expenditure and ₦7.17 billion allocated to capital projects.
Responding, Leader of the 10th Legislative Assembly, Love Nyenke, assured the chairman of the Assembly’s continued cooperation, pledging full support for the successful execution of the budget and sustained development of the council.
