As part of its commitment to ensure development in Ogoni land, the Ogoni Dialogue Committee ODC, has paid an inspection visit to the Taabaa General Hospital project, in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The visit was to assess the ongoing construction work, encourage the contractors and ensure timely delivery of the project.
ODC’s visit to the project site was also to monitor, evaluate the quality of the work which is part of its wider mandate.
The group while reaffirming its commitment to building trust, fostering development and promoting sustainable peace in Ogoni communities, expressed satisfaction in the pace and quality of work at the facility.
ODC inspected the projects with members of the Project Monitoring Sub-Committee, where it also reaffirmed its commitment to advancing confidence-building initiatives in Ogoniland.
The delegation which was led by ODC Chairman, Prof. Don Baridam, included notable members such as Arch. Bishop Ignatius C. O. Kattey, Rear Admiral Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd), Prof. Barineme Fakae, Barrister Kue Barinor Paul, Comr. Dimkpa Kingsley, Comr. Collins Lebeteh Kenneth, and Comr. Noble Obari Nwolu.
Taabaa General Hospital is among the projects initiated under the federal government’s confidence-building measures linked to ongoing discussions on the resumption of oil activities in Ogoniland.
While assessing the level of work, the team revealed that the project has reached an advanced stage of completion.
According to Baridam, “the hospital is a critical intervention that will significantly improve access to healthcare services for residents of the area upon completion.
“Taabaa General Hospital is one of the key projects under the federal government’s confidence-building measures tied to ongoing dialogue around oil resumption in Ogoniland.”
