JAMB Debunks Fake UTME Postponement Rumour

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has refuted claims circulating online that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination has been postponed, describing the report as false and misleading.

In a statement released on Saturday, the board cautioned candidates and the general public against believing the fake announcement, stressing that it did not originate from its office.

JAMB clarified that all arrangements for the 2026 UTME remain unchanged and will proceed as planned. The board reiterated that the examination is scheduled to take place from April 16 to April 25, 2026, as earlier announced.

The warning comes amid confusion generated by a viral press release alleging a shift in the examination date. JAMB urged candidates to rely only on official communication channels for accurate information regarding the examination.

The board also addressed concerns following the recent mock UTME conducted on March 28, which recorded technical issues in some Computer-Based Test centres. According to JAMB, out of the 224,597 candidates who registered for the mock exercise, 152,586 were able to successfully sit for the test across 989 centres nationwide.

It added that more than 20 centres affected by technical glitches have since been delisted due to operational shortcomings.

Furthermore, JAMB warned candidates to beware of fraudsters, particularly on WhatsApp, who claim they can manipulate or upgrade examination scores.

The board described such claims as criminal and cautioned that anyone found engaging in such acts risks disqualification or the withholding of results. Candidates were advised to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to official guidelines.
