Port Harcourt Hits $1 Billion Real Estate Boom

Port Harcourt is quietly becoming one of Nigeria’s hottest money zones, and this time, it’s not just about oil or nightlife. The Garden City is now turning heads in the real estate world.

In a major development, Port Harcourt has emerged as the third largest real estate market in Nigeria, with over $1 billion reportedly poured into the sector in just one year. And here’s the twist — a huge amount of money is coming from Nigerians in the diaspora who are betting big on the city’s future.

This revelation came from real estate entrepreneur and CEO of Cribz Nigeria, Tega Anosika Nze, who says the rising investment wave shows that Port Harcourt is no longer just an oil hub but a growing luxury and lifestyle destination.

According to him, investors are increasingly drawn to the city’s expanding infrastructure, business opportunities, and its fast-growing middle and upper-class population. From smart homes to gated estates and luxury apartments, the demand is booming, and developers are racing to meet it.

However, while the growth looks exciting, Nze warned that the industry still faces a major challenge — land disputes and unclear ownership. He stressed that many investors have lost properties due to irregularities, which can scare away future investments.

He called on the Rivers State Government to step in and create a clear land framework and comprehensive housing policy to protect both buyers and developers.

“Creating a transparent and enforceable system that protects property rights will restore investor confidence and encourage more development in Port Harcourt,” he said.

With billions flowing in and global attention rising, Port Harcourt’s real estate scene is no longer playing small. The question now is whether the city can fix its challenges fast enough to fully cash in on this golden moment.
