The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, has introduced new compulsory requirements for all business name online update requests, effective immediately.
In a statement posted on its X account, the company states that it aims to strengthen verification processes and enhance record accuracy for registered businesses. Applicants must now provide additional personal and contact details.
According to the commission, the updated requirements are part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving documentation integrity, preventing fraud, and ensuring seamless communication with business proprietors.
“Under the new guidelines, every Business Name Online Update submission must include date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, phone number for the registered office or proprietor, where different, and a valid means of identification,” CAC stated.

CAC explained that the importance of mandating the details was to streamline its database, ease compliance checks, and provide more secure and efficient services to entrepreneurs nationwide.
The commission, therefore, urged proprietors to comply with the updated guidelines to avoid delays in processing their requests.
“CAC is Nigeria’s regulatory authority responsible for the registration and management of companies and business names”.
“Over the years, the commission has been modernising its processes, moving from manual systems to a more efficient online platform to ease registration and updates for businesses across the country,” It added.
