Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has inaugurated the Ekeremor Youth Development Centre, a facility established in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Government of Denmark to strengthen youth empowerment and curb crime in the area.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Ekeremor, the Executive Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Area, Mr. Inniye Isaac, commended the collaborative effort.

Isaac described the centre as a strategic intervention designed to equip young people with skills, expand economic opportunities, and reduce vulnerability to criminality and substance abuse.
Mr. Isaac noted that the project, implemented under a UNODC and Danish Government framework, would serve as a transformative platform for youths across the local government area.
He lauded Governor Diri and the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Jens Ole Bach Hansen, who jointly unveiled the facility, for their commitment to youth development and social stability.
He further expressed deep appreciation to the development partners, emphasising that the initiative stands as a beacon of hope for the community and a crucial step in addressing the root causes of insecurity.
The ceremony drew several notable personalities, including the Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Faith Zibs-Godwin; former federal lawmaker, Hon. Christopher Enai; the Political Secretary to the Council, Hon. Emotungha Tabai; and Supervisor Councillors, among others.
