Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), the health insurance agency of Rivers State Government, has threatened to remove from the list of persons benefiting from its programmes, enrollees who do not possess a National Identification Number.
The Executive Secretary/ Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Rolegherighan Agala, who clarified her office in Port Harcourt on Monday, September 8, while chatting with journalists, said that the warning has become necessary to request beneficiaries on the RIVCHPP programme to try and fulfil the requirement of providing NIN, as stipulated by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to continue to enjoy unfettered services of RIVCHPP.
Dr. Agala announced that of the over 109,000 beneficiaries already enrolled by RIVCHPP, only about 15,000 are the ones who have the required national identification number.
RIVCHPP’s Executive Secretary also encouraged the already existing beneficiaries of RIVCHPP ‘s health insurance packages to endeavour and obtain their NIN and submit the same to RIVCHPP on or before the end of September 2025.

Dr. Agala reiterated that though the health insurance agency is out to cater to the health needs of Rivers residents without allowing them to suffer financial strain at the time and point, they may need health care services, those persons without the needed NIN would no longer access care and services provided by RIVCHPP.
RIVCHPP’s Executive Secretary announced that the agency is willing and ready to give everyone living and doing business in Rivers State the opportunity to access quality healthcare services without paying astronomically for such healthcare services, pleading with the enrollees already on the programme, and intending beneficiaries to arm themselves with a NIN to continue to enjoy the seamless health packages of RIVCHPP.
