Actress Kelley Mack Dies at 33

Kelley Mack, a talented American actress celebrated for her compelling performances in “The Walking Dead” and “Chicago Med”, has tragically passed away at the age of 33. Born Kelley Klebenow, she died peacefully on Saturday in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, with her devoted mother, Kristen, and steadfast aunt, Karen, by her side.

The heartbreaking news was shared on Wednesday through a poignant statement posted on her official Instagram account, #itskelleymack, which conveyed the profound loss felt by her family, friends, and fans. The statement portrayed Mack as a radiant spirit whose fervent light touched countless lives, noting that she has since appeared to loved ones in the symbolic form of butterflies, a testament to her enduring presence.

Mack’s acting career began in her youth and blossomed into a remarkable journey marked by versatility and dedication. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Addy in AMC’s “The Walking Dead” and later as Penelope Jacobs in NBC’s “Chicago Med”. Beyond her television roles, Mack made significant contributions to the entertainment industry through her voice-over work and appearances in high-profile commercial campaigns for major brands.

Her talent and charisma left an indelible mark, earning her admiration from colleagues and audiences alike. Her sister’s heartfelt words in the announcement underscored Mack’s extraordinary courage, particularly in her final days, describing her as a “tough SOB” who faced her transition with grace and strength.

In January 2025, Mack bravely shared on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with diffuse midline glioma, a rare and aggressive form of astrocytoma cancer, after experiencing persistent back pain and leg issues. The diagnosis led to a biopsy surgery on her spinal cord, which resulted in the loss of mobility in her right leg and most of her left, requiring her to rely on a walker and wheelchair.

Despite these challenges, Mack’s resilience shone through, inspiring those around her with her determination and spirit. Her openness about her health struggles fostered a deep connection with her fans, who rallied around her during this difficult time. To honor her legacy, a memorial service is scheduled for August 16 at the Glendale Lyceum in Glendale, Ohio, where loved ones will gather to celebrate her life and impact.

Additionally, a separate celebration of life is planned in Los Angeles to pay tribute to her contributions to the entertainment industry. Further details about these events and Mack’s journey are available through her Caringbridge page, linked in her Instagram bio. As fans and family mourn her loss, they also celebrate the love and inspiration she shared, with her sister’s message emphasizing how much Mack cherished her supporters and how profoundly she will be missed.
