RWUS Commend Fubara-Wike Accord, Pledge Full Allegiance

In a vibrant display of unity and gratitude, the Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS) movement convened a Thanksgiving service at the Port Harcourt Ecumenical Centre.

The event was held to celebrate the recent reconciliation between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Adorned in symbolic pink attire, the women engaged in fervent singing, dancing, and heartfelt prayers, expressing their joy for what they perceived as a long-anticipated restoration of peace in the region.

Leaders of RWUS addressed the congregation, hailing the reconciliation as a pivotal moment for Rivers State’s political stability.

They extended their appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Fubara, and Minister Wike for prioritising the state’s welfare above other considerations.

Florence Itamunoala, a prominent figure within the group and a retired Director from the Ministry of Justice, declared RWUS’s complete alignment with Fubara’s call for tranquillity.

She asserted the group’s commitment to supporting him through any subsequent political developments.

“He has asked us to embrace peace, and we will follow him anywhere. We believe in his leadership, and we know this reconciliation is for the good of the Rivers people.”

Pastor Nancy Nwankwo, the spiritual head of RWUS, led prayers for Governor Fubara’s full return to office, expressing optimism that the period of political unrest in the state would soon conclude.

Amidst the celebratory atmosphere, a note of caution was introduced by Hilda Dokubo, the Rivers State Labour Party Chairman.

She utilised the platform to deliver a stern message to the state’s Sole Administrator, emphatically stating, “Let it be known that not a single kobo of Rivers State money will go unaccounted for,” underscoring the critical need for transparency in governance during the current transitional phase.

Coincidentally and symbolically, Thanksgiving coincided with the birthday of the First Lady, Valerie Fubara.

The women marked this occasion with a cake-cutting ceremony and offered special prayers for her and the Governor’s leadership.

RWUS described the peace accord not merely as a political achievement, but also as a profound spiritual triumph for Rivers State. They urged all residents to remain composed and united as the state embarks on a new trajectory.
