Speaking on some situations faced by widows, a widow who pleaded to be anonymous said the burden of parenting lies on the shoulders of the widow as she is abandoned to cater for the needs while facing the denial of her inheritance.

In the same vein, a cleric, Rev father Emmanuel Anagwo, condemned the act of stigmatising and discriminating against widows as they struggle with their losses and survival.

On her part, the facilitator of Destiny Toby charity foundation, Dr. Ogechinyere Eke, emphasized the need for more measures to ensure the protection of widows and their families while Urging the society to Lend helping hands to them anywhere they are found irrespective of who they are and the tribe they represent.

Many widows are forced to bear the responsibilities of caring and tending to their needs alone with little or no assistance. The theme for this year’s observance is orphans in need, help a widow today.
