A passionate appeal has gone to the federal roads maintenance agency and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to commune together in the total rehabilitation of the Ahoada-Abua-Ogonokom waterside highway.
The traditional ruler of Omalem community, Abua Central in Abua-Odual LGA of Rivers State, Chief Odeamiodi Samuel who made the appeal while speaking with correspondent Roy Abije in his palace, recalled that the dilapidated road was constructed in 1975.
During the regime of the pioneer governor of Rivers State, Retired Commander Alfred Spiff, he described the present situation of the highway as a death trap to motorists and pedestrians due to numerous potholes on it.

Chief Samuel also called on the management of several oil companies operating in the local government area to assist in the resuscitation of the road because most of their heavy-duty trailers ply the road daily.
The traditional ruler noted that if the intervention agencies heed the appeal, it will go a long way in boosting the socio-economic activities of communities in the LGA because the highway is the only access road connecting ABOLGA with the rest of the state.
