In a recent operation done on May 12, the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS PATHFINDER took action against crude oil theft and illegal bunkering in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni area of Rivers State.
The NNS PATHFINDER’s Tactical Riverine Assault Squadron Team, acting on intelligence, discovered and dismantled nine illegal refining sites. These sites were equipped with 45 ovens, 30 reservoirs, and 75 dugout pits.

The operation led to the discovery of two wellheads connected with pipes used for siphoning crude oil.

The team dismantled these pipes and destroyed the illegal refining sites. The sites contained approximately 60,000 liters of suspected stolen crude oil, 80,000 liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and 33,000 liters of kerosene.

Commodore Cajethan Nnabuchi Aniaku, Commander of the NNS PATHFINDER, commended the team’s bravery.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to fighting crude oil theft and illegal bunkering, which threaten the nation’s economy and energy security.
